Saturday Night Showdown Delivers Thrilling Action at Dodge City Raceway Park
Dodge City, KS (June 14, 2025) — A warm summer evening set the stage for a high-energy night of dirt track racing at Dodge City Raceway Park, and fans were treated to three action-packed divisions as the IMCA Modifieds, Northern Sport Mods, and Hobby Stocks all delivered standout performances.
In the IMCA Modifieds, polesitter Tanner Black was untouchable in the 20-lap main event, leading flag-to-flag to secure the win. Dodge City veteran Clay Sellard powered his way into the runner-up spot after a strong heat race performance, while Jim Beaman came from ninth to round out the podium. Attrition played a factor late in the race as several contenders fell out, but Black’s early dominance held up to earn him another feature win on the season.
The Northern Sport Mods put on a masterclass in side-by-side racing. Josh Appel was smooth and consistent out front, going wire-to-wire from the pole to capture the A Feature victory. The drive of the night, though, came from Brianna Maughlin, who charged from 11th to finish second in an impressive run through the field. Chad Dolan held steady in the top three, while drivers like Austin Carter and Warren Huffman made late moves to secure top-five finishes.
But the biggest heartbreaker of the night came in the IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Cole Schulte appeared to be on the verge of his first-ever career victory, leading most of the 20-lap feature with focus and grit. As the laps wound down, Eric Cross began to build momentum on the high side. With just half a lap to go, Cross made a bold move to the cushion and ripped around Schulte in turn two, stealing the lead and the win in a dramatic, last-moment pass. The crowd roared in disbelief as Schulte held on for second, painfully close to the milestone win. Justin Yutterman rounded out the podium in a race full of passion, perseverance, and one unforgettable finish.
