Burkhart, Sellard, and Appel Deliver Big Wins at Dodge City Raceway Park
Dodge City, KS (June 13, 2025) — It was another high-energy night at Dodge City Raceway Park as fans packed the stands to witness some of the best door-to-door racing in the region. From wild moments in the Modifieds to a hard-charging drive in the Stock Cars, the evening was full of excitement across every division.
IMCA Stock Cars: Burkhart Charges from 12th for a Statement Win
Tathan Burkhart put on a clinic in the IMCA Stock Car A-Feature, coming from the 12th starting spot to capture the win in commanding fashion. Burkhart methodically worked his way through the field, making clean passes and capitalizing on every opportunity to reach the front. Once there, he didn’t look back, parking the No. 250 in Victory Lane after 20 laps of fierce competition.
Angel Munoz brought home a solid second-place finish after starting third, while Quinton Yutterman charged to third from seventh. Pole-sitter Tanner Thiel showed early strength and settled into fourth, followed by a hard-charging Chris Oliver in fifth.
Michael Pepper deserves credit for his drive through the pack, storming from the 23rd starting spot to an impressive eighth-place finish.
IMCA Modifieds: Contact Up Front Opens the Door for Sellard
Drama unfolded early in the IMCA Modified feature as Brett Berry and Tanner Black treated fans to a thrilling game of cat and mouse. The two battled relentlessly for the lead until contact on the front stretch sent both spinning into Turn 1, ending their night up front in sudden fashion.
Clay Sellard was ready to pounce. Running in third at the time of the incident, Sellard inherited the lead and never let it go, cruising to the win after a dominant second half of the race. Darren Crouch crossed the line in second, and Kelsie Black worked her way from deep in the field to finish third. Casey Jo Gemmill and Jake Nightingale rounded out the top five.
IMCA Northern Sport Mods: Appel on the Attack
Josh Appel put on one of the most impressive performances of the night in the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature. Starting 11th, Appel drove a patient but determined race, making clean passes and showing speed on both ends of the racetrack. He grabbed the lead late in the going and held off a late challenge from Chad Dolan to take the win.
Dolan advanced from 10th to finish second, while early contender Jeff Ray crossed third. Justin Lampe and Ryan Kirchoff rounded out the top five, while several drivers who started near the front fell victim to mechanical issues or race incidents.
